My First Client Adventure:
Building Adapta's Marketing from Scratch
For over a decade, I was deeply immersed in the corporate B2B world, mainly in IT. I built a robust network, which meant that when I decided to quit my job to travel indefinitely, I wasn't too worried about finding work again someday.
What I didn't quite grasp then was just how much I'd fall in love with the adventurous travel life. I didn't want to return to an office; I wanted to keep living this way! I didn’t, however, want to eat up all my savings. ;-) So, the decision slowly crystallized: I'd go freelance. I shared my thoughts on LinkedIn, putting my big idea out into the world, to see how my network would react to it.
Positive feedback
Matthias, the owner of Adapta, was one of the first to reply. We knew each other from the Google partner ecosystem, always running into each other at events. Turns out, they were looking for someone to build the marketing for Adapta Workspace from the ground up. With my IT background and Google knowledge, it was a perfect match.
If I would be interested in setting that up for them? Of course!
This was the validation I needed to take the plunge into freelancing. So, during a quick family visit back in the Netherlands, I registered with the Chamber of Commerce, and just like that, my freelance adventure officially began!
Building from the Ground Up
I kicked things off with a full marketing scan: what was already happening, and (more exciting!) what was still untapped.
From there, I put together a hands-on plan. We launched a newsletter (including the weekly Tip van de Week for Workspace), boosted the website, created valuable content and campaigns, reactivated their relationship with Google Cloud and organized events to bring Adapta’s vision to life.
All of this with one clear goal: positioning Adapta as the Google partner in healthcare, while staying true to their mission: making work easier, better, and more fun for healthcare professionals.
Today, the marketing foundation is solid. A strong base that the team can now build on as they refine their positioning and take things to the next level.
A Partnership Built on Boldness
What I love about Adapta? Their boldness. They’re not afraid to challenge the status quo in healthcare, which is an adventure in itself. I’m super grateful for their trust, even while I was literally riding around South America. And honestly? I can’t wait to see what’s next for these pioneers.
